Renovate and retire in Leeming

When Margaret decided to retire in late 2018, she also had to think about whether to downsize or continue living in a double-storey home that she had built over 30 years ago.

She liked the fact that the house was built really well. After all, her structural engineer friend made sure that the house sat solidly and comfortably in an oddly shaped block (which she likes) south of the river in Leeming.

She decided to renovate rather than move.

She got three quotes, as you do.

One Design and Construct got the project. Margaret’s reasons for choosing 1DC were similar to several of 1DC’s other clients. She picked 1DC for John’s professionalism, consideration for council approvals, and excellent design ideas – he also happens to be a great listener!

The renovation involved:

  • Opening up the kitchen and dining area
  • New windows and doorways to the kitchen
  • Creating better access flow in the entire upper level area
  • Additional floorboards to match existing areas

It makes much more sense when you compare the floor plans of before and after the renovation.

Margaret was eager to share how wonderful her experience was while working with John and his team. She told me that for over 30 years she worked nationally managing various commercial properties (offices and factory spaces) and dealt with countless trades people. She said John and everyone who John hired to work on her renovation project were the best that she had ever dealt with.

While the renovation was happening on the upper floor, Margaret and her husband were living downstairs. While the construction created dust and noise, which are unavoidable, the 1DC team was incredibly tidy and cleaned the site thoroughly at the end of each day.

So another glowing report from the client to add to the great many others!  Margaret is thrilled to recommend 1DC to anyone thinking of renovating their house.
