Renovation in Beaconsfield

When Annabelle and Tom purchased their character house in Beaconsfield, they loved the feel of the property, but the 4-bed 1-bath layout didn’t quite work and there were a lot of areas that needed repair. They decided to renovate to make the property exactly how they wanted it.

“If they can deal with a pregnant lady, they must be alright!”

Annabelle said her friend, who was pregnant at the time, had a renovation done by One Design and Construct, and everything went beautifully. Annabelle loved 1DC’s high-quality work, and she figured that if they could successfully deal with a pregnant lady, they must be alright!

“We felt he was really trustworthy.”

Annabelle said she and Tom felt really good about working with John Bodin and 1DC right from the get-go. “Tom and I felt John was really trustworthy, and we were right! He was very helpful, accommodating and flexible. We showed him our ideas and a basic floor plan, and John had a draftsman and surveyor work out the details so we could finalise the plans and go ahead. Once work began, there was always someone here who was happy to answer any questions we had. Tom was out of Perth for a while, and normally I would feel a bit hesitant about talking with a builder on my own, but that wasn’t an issue with John. We even made additions to the plans and John was able to just work it all out without any problems at all.”

Doing it all at once would have been difficult – both financially and logistically.

“Other builders had said they didn’t like splitting up a job – they wanted to do it all at once. John was happy to split the project into three sections. The bathrooms and living areas are completed now and the house is lovely. I love our new bathroom! It’s such a beautiful and calm space. Later this year we’ll do the garage. Then we’ll do the kitchen and laundry in 2020. We’re really excited about that!”

“John was happy to re-use original materials.”

“We don’t like waste, so if we can re-use or re-purpose existing materials then that’s great and also saves on cost. John was totally flexible in terms of re-using any materials. When the roof came off, I cleaned and spruced up all the original guttering and those gutters are now back up again.”

So would Annabelle recommend John & 1DC to her friends? “I already have!”

“We are so happy with the result. John worked with our ideas and within our budget to deliver something special. And he delivered the project on time. Everything went smoothly.” And when asked whether she would recommend John and 1DC to her friends, Annabelle said, “Oh, I’ve already recommended John to three of my friends!”

In Beaconsfield, Annabelle and Tom are two more delighted 1DC customers. We look forward to seeing more as the next two phases of their renovation are completed this year and in 2020.
